Invincibile Armada

The fleet is going straight on the sea,
Her arrow-shaped prows pointing
At the holy coast of the Angels' Island,
And the cannons are blasting all along,
While the dolphins, the whales and the sea-dragons
Are sinking.

Who will expel this inquisitorial horde
From the land of free-speech and free-thought?
Who will hurl himself against the Leviathan?
Scattered British boats are moving fast,
Capitalising the sluggishness of the Goliaths,
They are clever.

But Elizabeth is lookin' from the coast,
Only sorrow you can see in her gaze,
Nothing she ever feared for herself,
Because she's born in a cradle made of fortitude,
Still she's scared, she knows for the first time
What dread is made of.

But while the Gracious Queen
Thought of her land, of her peasants, of the shackles,
And was near to cry for her homeland,
John Dee, the great Magus mounted on the top
Of his tower,
And looking at the sky he's pronouncing the Evocation:

- Undines, and most holy Spirits of the Water
Surrounding our beloved land,
Respond at my call, you see the enemy ships
Coming down the sea to raze our cities and villages,
Don't make it happen, stand as a tough liquid wall,
Expell the Spanish mastiffs from your consecrated shelter. -

And the storm rose high, rose high as the sky,
Attacking without mercy the floorboards suspended
On waters that became suddenly black and evil,
The Undines hurled themselves together
Against the Leviathan born from the earth,
So peace returned as the sun returns,
Shining again on the Kingdom.
